ITSM Crowd 64 – Can ITSM be Technology Agnostic?

In episode 64 of the ITSM Crowd, Claire Agutter is joined by Charles Betz (Forrester) and Jon Hall (BMC). Our discussion will be about the technical skills a service manager needs, and how these have changed in recent years.

This ITSM Crowd was sparked by a twitter discussion, where Jon asked “Is there enough thought given in the ITSM world to the effect of changes in the infrastructure technology that underpins enterprises? How many take the time to follow trends around cloud, containerisation, serverless applications, etc? As a community are too inward looking?”

Historically, many IT service managers have seen themselves as ‘technology agnostic’, but can this still be the case? With the rise of new technologies, what does a service manager need to know to be effective?
