ITIL v3 was structured around the service lifecycle – strategy, design, transition, operation and continual service improvement. If your organizations adopted a structure linked to the service lifecycle, don’t worry as these concepts are still valid. Many of them appear in ITIL 4, and any ITIL v3 certifications won’t ‘expire’. With key processes in place and good understanding of end to end services, many organizations are delivering robust, predictable, quality IT services.
If you still have a requirement for the higher level V3 Intermediate courses, then the ITIL 4 Foundation can be used to meet the pre-requisites. These Intermediate courses (Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, Continual Service Improvement, Service Offerings and Agreements, Release, Control and Validation, Operational Support and Analysis, Planning, Protection and Optimization and the capstone course Managing Across the Lifecycle) will only be available until the end of the year.
