On the 1st January 2014, Axelos Ltd took over management of the ITIL qualification scheme, replacing APMG. One of the first actions that Axelos has taken, is to make changes to the ITIL Exams. Many will already be aware of the price increases that this has resulted in.
However, Axelos have also implemented the ruling that students are only able to purchase their Intermediate / MALC exams from either the ATO (Accredited Training Organisation) who provided their training, or the Exam Institute who accredits the ATO used.

So, before purchasing training, check that you are happy with the cost of the training AND the cost of the examination, as once the training has been purchased there is very little opportunity to “shop around”. Probably, the only way that you will be able to purchase an exam is through your training provider or the Examination Institute who supplies the exams to your training provider.
It’s also good practice to ensure that any possible extras are not hidden away – do you need to pay additional fees for your certificates etc etc.
So, in a nutshell, our additional piece of advice is to ask the training companies that you’re considering using, for a full and final quotation of everything that you need to gain your certification. Obviously, there may be additional examination fees if resits are required, but make sure that you know these costs, along with all others.
