The ITSM Zone Virtual Mentor service is a free of charge offering to every student, giving them access to an experienced mentor with years of industry knowledge. The aim is to allow them to ask any questions they may have following their training, and giving an insight into how they can transfer what they have learnt to the real world of IT Service Management.
Student David Kilmas chose Patricia Speltincx to be his Virtual Mentor. Patricia has over 30 years experience in IT environments as a consultant, trainer, ITIL Examiner, and a speaker at various conferences. She challenges her mentees to think ‘outside the box’ in order to open new avenues, and, hailing from Belgium, she speaks both English and French.
We asked David some questions about his Virtual Mentor experience:
How did you choose your mentor?
I selected Patricia because of her background in Service Management and as a personal coach.
What did you want from the session?
I work in a medium size manufacturer where I am the ServiceNow Administrator. I am the one person ITSM department (800 employees and 50 in IT). We are planning to move our Change Management from SharePoint to ServiceNow. I wanted to get Patricia’s perspective on strategies around implementing Change Management in an environment where there is a low level of maturity.
How easy was it to schedule your session?
Very easy. I sent an inquiry to ITSM Zone. I received a response within a day and then Patricia contacted me.
What were your general impressions of the session? Did you find it helpful after your training?
I found the session very helpful. Speaking to a neutral individual with significant experience provided excellent perspective about my current position.
